Over 40% posts lying vacant in medical block Zainapora, lacks MRI, CT scan

Around 40 percent of sanctioned posts in health block Zainapora in South Kashmir’s Shopian district are lying vacant, thereby affecting patient care in the block.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) reveals that out of 95 sanctioned posts in health block Zainapora, only 56 posts are filled while 39 are lying vacant for years.

He said five gazetted posts are lying vacant in the block including one consultant and four medical officers, which include two deputation-reserved posts of medical officers.

The official added that 28 non-gazetted posts are lying vacant in the block including one head pharmacist, one senior pharmacist, four lab technicians, one junior dental technician, one x-ray technician, one theatre technician, six staff nurses, two community health officers, two H.E, one physiotherapist, four assistants, two BHW, one driver and one electrician.

Six class-IV posts are lying vacant in the block including three nursing orderly and one post of Dhobi, Aya and chowkidar is also lying vacant, he said.

Officials told KNO that no doctor or paramedical staff is attached to other hospitals in this medical block.

They said that there are no MRI, CT scan facilities anywhere in the block while X-Ray and USG facilities are available in CHC Zainapora only and no such facilities are available at PHC level in the block, besides a gynaecologist is available at CHC level only .

Officials said that they have been trying to manage things well in the block despite having 40 percent posts vacant in the block.

They said that the vacancy issue has been brought into the notice of higher ups several times and they are hopeful that these posts will be filled soon so as to enhance health care facilities in the block—(KNO)
