An encounter has started between militants and Government forces in the Kanjiullar area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district. Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Tuesday night a joint group of RR,  CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police after receiving inputs about militant presence in Kanjiullar of Shopian, launched a cordon and search operation. The hiding militants opened fire on the troopers during the cordon, triggering an encounter. 2-3 militants are believed to be trapped in the area. As per locals, intermittent exchange of gunfire is going on at the site of the encounter. Details emerging.

The Uttar Pradesh (UP) Government has demolished a langar hall (community kitchen) and houses of some Sikh families in Gagan Manoharpur village, near Moradabad. The SGPC president, Harjinder Singh Dhami has written to the UP CM to act against the administrative officials as the Sikh families were settled at Gagan Manoharpur village since 1973. These Sikhs have also set up a gurdwara in the village besides a large number of people partake free food at the langar hall every day. “The ruining of Sikh community members living there for more than 50 years is not justified and the UP government should stop the excesses being committed on its citizens,” he said.

The latest Price-based Inflation (WPI) shows a rise to a 15.88 per cent in May, it highest under the current series launched in 2012, government data showed. The latest stats of WPI combined with retail inflation data from Monday indicate supply-driven inflation is showing no signs of relief anytime soon. According to reports, the data showed, inflation in food articles in May was 12.34 per cent, as prices of vegetables, wheat, fruits and potato witnessed a sharp spike against the last year's prices. The rate of price rise in vegetables was 56.36 per cent, while in wheat it was 10.55 per cent and in egg, meat and fish, inflation was 7.78 per cent. In a press release, Idara Tehiqaqat e Islami said, the blood donation camp was organized by Khair e Aam trust, it's charitable wing, under the banner of Shaheed e Ummat blood bank for the needy patients. Admin orders cessation of academic activities in schools run by Jamaat e Islami

The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Tuesday ordered the cessation of academic activities in all schools run by the ‘Falah-e-Aam’ Trust, an affiliate of the local Jamaat-e-Islami. An order issued by Principal Secretary, School Education Department, B K Singh said that all academic activities in schools across JK run by the ‘Falah-e-Aam’ trust shall cease immediately. Issued on Tuesday, the order further mentioned: “All the students studying in these banned institutions shall admit themselves to nearby government schools for the current academic session, i.e, 2021-2022.
