A mysterious explosion took place on Sunday near an Army camp at Zachaldara village of Handwara in north Kashmir's Kupwara district on Sunday. Less than 12 hours after being fired upon by militants, the 23-year-old youth from Chudbugh area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district lost battle for life at a hospital here, officials said on Sunday. The youth—Umar Ahmad Dar along with his SPO brother were fired upon by militants on Saturday late evening at their residence. The SPO, Ishfiq Ahmad Dar (26), posted in Budgam, was declared brought on arrival by the doctors at SKIMS Bemina here. Two blasts, one of the a low intensity, occurred at Kandi area of Rajouri district on Saturday evening following which main road was closed and market shut by police as aprecautionary measure, official sources said. They said that soon after the twin blasts in which there are no immediate reports about casualty, police and army rushed to the area and cordoned off the entire area. The market was closed and traffic through the road was halted, they said. A police officer told GNS that the step was precautionary one. A Special Police Officer (SPO) was killed while his brother was injured after they were shot at by suspected militants on Saturday evening in the Chatabugh area of Budgam district of central Kashmir. Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that an SPO of Jammu Kashmir Police and his brother were shot at in Budgam's Chatabug area, causing injuries to them. The two identified as Umar Ahmed and Ishfaq Ahmed sons of Ghulam Muhammad were rushed to the hospital for treatment. However, SPO, Ishfaq Ahmad succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital.
