The All India Muslim Personal Law Board on Tuesday opposed the directive of the Central government to organise the ‘Surya Namaskar’ program in schools to mark the 75th anniversary of Independence Day saying ‘Surya Namaskar’ is a form of Surya puja (worship of the sun) and Islam does not allow it. 199 fresh covid-19 cases, no death reported in J&K

Jammu and Kashmir reported 199 fresh covid-19 cases while there was no death due to the virus in the last 24 hours, officials said on Tuesday. 90 of the fresh cases were reported from Jammu division and 109 from Kashmir, taking the overall tally to 342001. There was no death reported due to the virus during the last 24 hours, they said. So far 4530 persons—2199 in Jammu and 2331 in Kashmir—have died due to the virus, they said. 15.41 Percent Rise in Annual Crime in Jammu Kashmir in the Year 2020

The Jammu Kashmir Police on Tuesday said that there has been a 15.41 percent increase in the crime registered in 2020. Releasing the annual edition of the crime gazette, the Director-General of Police, Dilbagh Singh said that a total of 28,936 cases were registered under various sections of the Indian Penal code in Jammu Kashmir during 2020 against 25,072 cases during the year 2019. As per the gazette, The crime rate for the year 2020 remained at 216.90 per lakh population as against 189.41 for the year 2019.
