J&K Reports 124 Covid-19 Cases, 2 Deaths

Jammu and Kashmir reported 124 fresh covid-19 cases while two persons died due to the virus in the last 24 hours, officials said on Sunday. 31 of the fresh cases were reported from Jammu Division and 93 from Kashmir, taking the overall tally to 340722. One death each was reported from Jammu division and Kashmir Valley due to the virus during the last 24 hours, they said. So far 4523 persons—2197 in Jammu and 2326 in Kashmir—have died due to the virus, they said. The residents of Manzpora village of Aloosa Tehsil in north Kashmir's Bandipora district are facing acute shortage of drinking water for three months. While complaining about the issue the residents told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that the authorities in the Jal-Shakti department are pushing them to face hardships in these bone chilling days as they are not receiving regular supply of drinking water. A statue of Jesus Christ at the entrance gate of a church in Ambala was allegedly vandalised by some unidentified people, police said on Sunday. The incident occurred on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday at the Holy Redeemer Church in Ambala Cantonment, they said. SHO of Ambala Cantonment police station, Anil Kumar, said police received the information about the vandalism in the morning. Footage from CCTV cameras in the area has been collected and two suspects have been spotted. A PIL has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking directions to the high courts to take appropriate steps to adopt a uniform procedure for case registration and to use common judicial terms, phrases and abbreviations.
