J&K Reports 125 Fresh Covid-19 Cases, 1 Death

Jammu and Kashmir reported 125 fresh covid-19 cases while as one person succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours, officials said on Tuesday. 28 of the fresh cases were reported from Jammu Division and 97 from Kashmir, taking the overall tally to 340161. There one death reported from Jammu division due to the virus during the last 24 hours, they said. So far 4515 persons—2196 in Jammu and 2319 in Kashmir—have died due to the virus, they said. Giving district wise details of the fresh cases, the officials told GNS that Srinagar reported 47 cases, Baramulla 17, Budgam 9, Pulwama 1, Kupwara 9, Anantnag 2, Bandipora 6, Ganderbal 3, Kulgam 3, Shopian 0, Jammu 20, Udhampur 1, Rajouri 3, Doda 1, Kathua 0, Samba 0, Kishtwar 0, Poonch 3, Ramban 0 and Reasi 0. Nawakadal Attack: Injured Civilian Succumbs at Hospital

A civilian who was shot at by suspected militants at Merjanpora Eidgah Safakadal in central Kashmir’s Srinagar district this evening has succumbed to injuries at SMHS hospital here, officials said. They told GNS that one Rouf Ahmad Khan, 45, was fatally shot by militants this evening, following which he was rushed to SMHS Hospital Srinagar, adding soon after admission, the person however succumbed to his injuries. The Kashmir Zone Police in the meantime tweeted “#Terrorists fired upon a #civilian namely Rouf Ahmad at Merjanpora, Eidgah PS Safakadal #Srinagar. The injured was shifted to SMHS hospital where he was declared dead. #Case registered, investigation going on (sic.)”. Meanwhile the whole area has been cordoned off to nab the assailants. (GNS)

Bijbhera Attack: Injured ASI Succumbs To Injuries

An Assistant Sub-inspector of Police, who was gravely injured in a militant attack, succumbed to wounds on way to hospital, official sources told GNS. The militants fired upon ASI Mohammad Ashraf of Awantipora, leaving him critically injured with two bullet wounds in neck and chest, at Bijbhera. He was shifted to SDH Bijbhera where from he has been shifted to Srinagar hospital for advanced treatment. However he died on the way, they said. A police officer confirmed the dead of the the ASI. An assistant sub inspector of Police was shot at by unknown gunmen in Bijbehara area of Anantnag district on Wednesday evening. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that an ASI of Jammu and Kashmir police was shot at by suspected militants near SDH Bijbehara on Wednesday evening. He said that ASI identified as Muhammad Ashraf of Awantipora had received four bullet injuries and was shifted to SDH Bijbehara in critical condition. He added that the area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers. Earlier, a 45-year-old Rouf Ahmed was shot at and injured at Eidgah area of Srinagar city. At least 24 pregnant women tested positive for coronavirus Wednesday at Kashmir’s lone maternity hospital Lalla Ded, with officials expecting the number to rise.
