The Chief Justice of Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh High court on Sunday stated that adding the words “secular” and “socialist” to the Preamble of the Indian Constitution in 1976 narrowed the spiritual image of India, Indian Express reported. The chief justice was speaking on the topic “Dharma and the Constitution of India: The Interplay” at an event of an advocates’ body in Jammu. Calling the addition of words a “narrow-minded” concept, he said that the name of the country should have been the “Spiritual Republic of India”. Innocent civilians have been the biggest casualty of counter-insurgency operations across Jammu Kashmir, northeast and the Left-Wing-affected districts, even as security forces continue to enjoy special powers under the Armed Forces Special Powers Act, Economic times reported. According to the report, Over 4,900 civilians have been killed in Jammu Kashmir in last 21 years, while more than 4,300 died in the northeastern states of Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh. After a day of rain/snow, the weather started improving in Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh on Monday. Sonam Lotus, director of the Meteorological Department (MeT) said, "As expected, the weather has improved and it is mainly clear in all districts of J&K and Ladakh. "There is a possibility of light rain/snow around December 8-9th at some places. Overall, no significant weather change for the next 10 days in both Jammu Kashmir. Expect gradual fall in night temperatures." The minimum temperature was 2.6 in Srinagar, it was 0.6 in Pahalgam and minus 7.0 in Gulmarg. Drass town of Ladakh had minus 12.0, Leh had minus 6.1 and Kargil minus 5.8 as the night's lowest temperature. BOSE directs schools of J&K, Ladakh to withdraw textbooks of History & Civics for Class 7th

The Jammu Kashmir State Board of School Education has directed all the schools of the J K and Ladakh not to use textbooks of History and Civics edition 2020 for Class 7th published by JAY CEE Publications after outrage over depiction of a cartoon of Prophet Muhammad that has the sentiments of a Muslim community.
