Mob Lynches Man to Death in Tripura

On Saturday, a man was beaten to death in Tripura's Kamal Nagar village under the Sonamura sub-division of Sepahijala district, today, on "suspicion of stealing cows," NDTV reported. The report suggests that three suspected cattle smugglers had allegedly entered the state from Bangladesh late on Friday night. And when the trio allegedly entered the house of one Litan Paul to steal cows, the owner caught them in the act with the help of a neighbour. Two young men of the three suspects managed to escape but one couldn't. He was then beaten to death by an angry group of locals, police sources said, as per the NDTV report. Later, the police also found a mobile phone and Bangladesh's currency in his possession. The victim is yet to be identified.

Sub-zero temperatures continued in Pahalgam and Gulmarg even as night temperature recorded a slight rise at most places in Kashmir Valley on Sunday. A meteorological department official here told GNS that Srinagar recorded a low of 5.5°C against 5.2°C on the previous night. The temperature is however above 3.7°C for this time of the year in the summer capital, he said. Murder of Sarpanch: Bandipora court sentences 8 persons to imprisonment

A local Court on Saturday sentenced eight accused to Imprisonment who were found guilty in killing of a Sarpanch in Hajin area of Bandipora district in 2014. Principal District and Sessions Judge Bandipora, Mohammad Ibrahim Wani sentenced the main accused to 10 years imprisonment with a fine of Rs 30 thousand while six accomplices to the crime were also sentenced to three year and one month Imprisonment.
