Handwara: Chek, Drungsoo Residents in Mawar Protest Over Use of ‘Substandard Material’ for Road Work

Inhabitants of Chek, Drungsoo in Mawar of Handwara Thursday staged a protest against the use of “substandard material” for the road construction work by Roads and Buildings Department, in the area. The protestors, as per GNS, alleged the R&B department of compromising with the quality of the 1 kilometre vital road stretch running from Chek upto Drungsoo. 30-year-old man’s body found in paddy field in Batnoor Pulwama

SOUTH KASHMIR

Body of a 30-year-old man was found under mysterious circumstances in Batnoor Shahoora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday. Reports reaching GNS said that the body was spotted in the paddy field by some passersby. Subsequently the police was informed which reached the spot soon and took the corpse into possession. Meanwhile a police official confirming the recovery of body said that based on documents found in his pocket, he has been identified as Ali Mohammad Bhat (30) of Barsoo Awantipora. The official told GNS that a case has been registered under relevant sections of law and investigations are underway to ascertain the cause of death. (GNS)

Govt Renames LAWDA As LCMA

The government on Wednesday renamed Lakes and Waterways Development Authority as Jammu and Kashmir Lake Conservation and Management Authority (LCMA). “In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 3 of the Jammu and Kashmir Development Act, 1970 (Act XIX of 1970), the Government hereby re-name Lakes and Waterways Development Authority constituted vide notification SRO 109 of 1997 dated 27.03.1997 as Jammu and Kashmir Lake Conservation and Management Authority (LCMA) for all purposes of the said Act,” reads an order, a copy of which lies with KDC.
