Amid the alarming reports of targeted civilian killings and gunfights between the security forces and militants, the central government has decided to move extra forces to Jammu Kashmir, News 18 reported on Wednesday. The report, citing sources, says that an official communication about sending 25 companies of troops to Jammu Kashmir will be released soon. These additional companies of CRPF will be sent in a phased manner, the report says. 10 companies will be sent to in the first phase, while remaining 15 will be dispatched in the second phase. Seven live rounds and five cartridges (Khoka) of Insas were recovered during screening from the baggage of a CRPF trooper at Srinagar’s International Airport on Thursday, officials said. An official told News Agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC) that seven live rounds and five cartridges (Khoka) of Insas rifle were recovered at drop gate during screening from the baggage of one trooper identified as Head Constable Mohammad Kabir of 96 battalion of CRPF. He said the CRPF head constable was traveling to Delhi adding that the trooper has been handed over to Police Station Humhama for further investigation, he added. (KDC)

Nine persons from Southern Shopian villages booked under PSA, shifted to different Jammu Jails

At least 9 persons from South Kashmir’s Shopian district have been booked under Public Safety Act and shifted to District Jails of Poonch, Rajouri and Kathua of the Jammu region. National Investigation Agency (NIA) along with Jammu and Kashmir Police Thursday raided the house of a Shopkeeper in Kashmir capital Srinagar. Reliable sources told news agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC) that an NIA team accompanied by policemen from MR Gunj raided the house of a 26-year-old shopkeeper identified as Yonus Farooq Bhat son of Farooq Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Shah Mohalla in Nawab Bazar. They said the young man who runs a mobile recharge shop has been in police custody since October 8. Besides the house of the shopkeeper his shop was also searched by the NIA sleuths, they added.
