Recent Counter Insurgency Ops in Kashmir Based on Human Intelligence: Lt Gen Pandey

General officer Commanding (GoC) of Srinagar based army’s 15 Corps Lieutenant General D P Pandey said that anti-militancy operations launched by the army in the past few days are based on human intelligence and he would not like to connect any operation with the events that took place in Srinagar or elsewhere. Two unidentified militant have been killed in a Gunfight at Feeripora area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Tuesday. Official sources told GNS, that two militants have been killed in the gunfight, however identity of the slain militants is yet to be ascertained. Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday carried raid at the house of Baseer Ahmad Khan, a week after he was relieved as advisor to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. Encounter Breaks Out in Shopian Area in Kashmir

Meer Irfan An encounter has raged between militants and government forces in Feripora in South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Tuesday morning. Sources said a joint team of Army’s RR, Police and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search operation in Shopian on early Monday morning. As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter.
