Rains Lash Kashmir Valley- Wet Weather to Continue for Next 3-8 Hours

Rains in most parts of the Kashmir valley have brought respite from a hot summer, where temperatures surpassed 35 degrees in July. On Sunday morning, heavy showers across the valley are being welcomed by people especially the farmers. The temperatures in the valley dropped down to below 20 degrees. "the weather is likely to improve by Tuesday," officials said on Sunday. Independent Weather monitoring site, Kashmir weather, reported, "Western Disturbance is slowly moving eastwards. Under its influence, rain/thundershowers are expected at most places of Jammu Kashmir during the next 3 - 8hrs. Significant improvement in weather is expected from the evening."

Renowned Gujjar Leader Mian Bashir Ahmed Passes Away at 98

On Saturday, the 98-year-old renowned Gujjar leader and religious figure, Mian Bashir Ahmed Larvi passed away. Larvi had a wide following across Jammu Kashmir and was born in November 1923, in Baba Nagri Wangath, Kangan in Ganderbal district. His father Hazrat Mian Nizam Din Larvi and his grandfather Baba Jee Sahib Larvi were also renowned religious personalities. He was the son of top Gujjar leader and saint Mian Nizam Din Larvi and father of former Minister and National Conference (NC) leader Mian Altaf Ahmad. Grenade lobbed on Government forces at Sanantnagar, 01 CRPF man suffer minor injury

A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) trooper was injured on Saturday after suspected militants hurled a grenade towards Government forces in the Sanantnagar area of  Srinagar district. Confirming the incident a police officer told that militants lobbed a grenade on CRPF in Sanantnagar. In this incident, one trooper of CRPF received minor injuries, who was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, the area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers. (GNS)

The proposed 100-feet-tall massive tricolour has been hoisted on Saturday on the Hari Parbat fort near the shrine of the famous Sufi Saint Makhdoom Sahab in Srinagar.
