Hundreds of people on Saturday reached the Martyrs graveyard of Islamabad (anantnag) where the slain Mirwaiz of South Kashmir, Dr. Qazi Nisar is laid to rest. People from nooks and corners of South Kashmir visited the graveyard of the slain Mirwaiz and offered Fate Khwani to him. A senior police officer posted as Station House Officer (SHO) at police station Rajouri has allegedly been manhandled by Army men on Mughal Road. Reportedly, SHO Rajouri Sameer Jillani was on Mughal Road when Army men deployed on Poshana Army check post and police officer entered into verbal duel. "In initial reports, it has come to our knowledge that SHO has been manhandled to a greater extent." police officials said. Wishing anonymity, they said that manhandling of officer has created a wave of resentment among police cadre in Rajouri and Poonch who are demanding action as per law in this incident. ‘Letters Sent to All DCs’- Jammu Kashmir Delimitation Commission Kicks off Delimitation Exercise

The commission for delimitation of Jammu Kashmir has kicked off the exercise by writing to District Commissioners (DC) of all the twenty districts, Hindu reported. The commission has sought the demographic, topographic information as well as the local administration’s impressions of political aspirations of their concerned district. Sources quoted by Hindu revealed that the letter was sent across to all the DCs in the first week of June, and while the commission asked for a response within two days, it was sent off, by all DCs, at the end of the week. The commission was set up by the Modi-led Government in March 2020 to delineate Assembly and parliamentary constituencies and was later given a year’s extension in March last. Police have arrested ten persons and recovered 11 packets of heroin, arms and ammunition besides cash in Baramulla district of North Kashmir, officials said on Saturday. A police official told that a narco-militant module was busted by arresting 10 persons from whom 10 grenades, 4 pistols along with as many magazines and 20 rounds were recovered. This is apart from 11 packets of heroin and cash worth Rs 21.5 lakhs besides cheque amounting to Rs one lakh seized from them, the official said. Incarcerated journalist Siddique Kappan’s 90-year-old mother, Khadeeja Kutty, passed away after a prolonged illness in Kerala. Her funeral will take place today, which means Kappan would not be able to see her for the last time. Mr Kappan had last visited his mother in February, when the Supreme Court granted him five days’ bail. Siddique Kappan’s bail hearing will come up before a trial court in UP’s Mathura on June 22.
