The Jammu Kashmir administration has announced an extension of the lockdown by seven more days across the region as covid cases continue to show an upward surge. "Corona Curfew imposed in all 20 districts of J&K till 7 am on Monday, 10/5/21 is extended further by 7 days till 7 am on Monday, 17/5/21. The curfew will be strict except for a few essential services," the Jammu Kashmir admin said. On Sunday, the Jammu Kashmir administration said that the lockdown in Jammu Kashmir extended further by 7 days till 7 am on next Monday. Only essential services have been exempted from the lockdown, the admin said, adding, "The gathering size permissible for marriages is reduced to 25 with effect from 09 May 2021."

India recorded 4,03,738 fresh COVID-19 cases in a day, which pushed the tally to 2,22,96,414, according to the Union health ministry data updated on Sunday. The death toll climbed to 2,42,362 with 4,092 daily deaths, the data updated at 8 am showed. Registering a steady increase, the active cases have increased to 37,36,648, comprising 16.76 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 82.15 per cent. The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 1,83,17,404 with 3,86,444 patients recovering in a day, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.09 per cent, the data stated. A 40-bed hospital has been established to treat Covid-19 patients with cow-based medicines & mantras in Tetoda, Deesa taluka of north Gujarat. The patiets are being treated with Panchgavya’ therapy where they’ll be given medicinal products made of cow’s milk, ghee, urine & dung, Gujarat Samachar reported. The facility named, ‘Vedalakshana Panchgavya Ayurved Covid Isolation centre has 40 beds in a hall around which grass has been grown which serves twin purpose of providing fodder to the cows as well as keep the place cool. Fans and air coolers too have also been fitted in the hall. A special ‘Panch Gavya’ kit has been prepared from cow-produced materials for the COVID-19 patients.
