A 32-year-old school teacher in north Kashmir's Kupwara district has tested positive for COVID, forcing the authorities to suspend all sorts of activities at the institute till further orders. Reliable sources told a local news agency, Global News Service (GNS) that on the directions of DSEK to conduct RT-PCR tests in schools, a medical team carried out the tests at Government High School Kanthpora. During the process, they said, one of the teachers' was found positive for the infection.   On Saturday, an eight-year-old boy was to mauled to death by street dogs in South Kashmir's Pulwama district. Sources told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the street dogs attacked Azhar Manzoor, son of Manzoor Ahmad of Pingelan village near the family’s Agricultural field. “The locals tried to save the boy, but couldn't rescue him on time as he received severe injuries,” they said. They further added that he was rushed to District Hospital Pulwama where doctors declared him dead on arrival. A doctor from the hospital said that his neck and head was critically injured and they tried level best to save him, however, due to heavy loss of blood, they couldn't save him.

  A fire broke out at a woodwork factory in Parimpora area of Srinagar, destroying wooden work, machinery worth lakhs. The incident took place late last night. Fire tenders were rushed to the spot which took more than an hour to douse the fire, witnesses told KNT. The factory is owned by one Mir Muhammad Asif who said the wooden work including paneling worth over 30 lakhs were destroyed in the fire incident. Mir said short circuit may be the cause of the fire. Meanwhile, police registered a case and set investigation into motion.

The security forces have arrested two non-local residents during an operation near the Jawahar Tunnel area of Qazigund in south Kashmir's Kulgam district last night. An official said that two persons were arrested along with arms and ammunition after security forces intercepted a Santro car (JK04-9750) near Jawahar Tunnel, Qazigund. One Pistol and twenty rounds were recovered from their possession, the official said. The duo has been identified as Muhammad Danish Sedaqi, son of Shamshad Sedaqi, and Muhammad Nawshad Nayi, son of Muhammad Younis Nayi from Rajatajpur in Uttar Pradesh. The vehicle has also been seized and further questioning of arrested persons is going on, the official said.
