China Discovers New Swine Flu with ‘Pandemic Potential’

Researchers from China discovered a new form of swine flu which can infect humans and has the potential to result in a future pandemic. However, scientists have cautioned that the new swine flu virus does not pose an immediate global health threat. The new virus, called the G4 virus, is a genetic descend from the H1N1 swine flu that led to the 2009 pandemic. The study published in the scientific journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) stated the G4 virus shows "all the essential hallmarks of a candidate pandemic virus." The G4 virus was discovered by Chinese researches during a pig surveillance program. Shabir Khan Suspected militants attacked a party of paramilitary CRPF on Wednesday morning in  Sopore town in Kashmir. An Official confirming the incident said that militants attacked a party of CRPF near model town Sopore, four including a CRPF men were injured. The CRPF men were shifted to the hospital, one of them died on the way, Another civilian identified as Bashir Ahmed was also killed in the attack. The official said that three paramilitary CRPF personnel were wounded in this attack, and a search operation has been launched to nab the attackers.

Kulgam Court Sentences CRPF Man to Life for Killing Colleagues

A Court in Kulgam has sentenced a CRPF personnel to life imprisonment for killing three of his colleagues and injuring the fourth critically. The Sessions Judge at Kulgam's District court sentenced a CRPF man to Life for murdering three colleagues on 24 November 2011. The incident happened on 24 December, 2011 when a CRPF man named Sanjay Kumar shot at his three friends, killing them on the spot and injuring one more colleague critically. He was immediately arrested and an FIR Number 271/ 2011 was refistered against him in the Police Station Kulgam, US 307 and 302 of the Ranbir Penal code. On Tuesday, the District court in Kulgam sentenced him to life imprisonment.

On Monday morning after two ferries crashed in Dhaka, Bangladesh, more than 30 bodies have been recovered. A large ferry called Mayur-2 collided with a vessel called the Morning Bird carrying around 60 passengers and sank in just 20 seconds after, Shah Jamal, a local police chief said. Jamal stated that there were at least eight women and three children among the fatalities. He added that at the time of the crash the bigger boat was dropping its anchor at a port on the River Buriganga. Chief of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority, Commodore Golam Sadeq, said that a four-member committee has been formed to look into the crash.
