Intense Clashes Erupt in Kakpora Pulwama

February 14 Intense Clashes have erupted in Kakpora locality of South Kashmir's Pulwama District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that intense clashes erupted on Thursday afternoon as soon as he news of death of Adil Ahmed a local Militant reached the area. Locals in large numbers poured onto the streets and threw stones on the Government Forces personnel moving through the area. The Force personnel,l responded with immense tear smoke shelling. The clashes were however going on, when this report was filed.

Pulwama Attack- Death Toll Mounts to 45

February 14 Fourty five paramilitary troops were killed and at least thirty others were injured, and a bus of CRPF they were travelling in was damaged in a car bomb attack along Srinagar-Jammu highway in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday. Confirming the attack, A Police official told The Kashmiriyat that around 3:15 pm, militants rammed a car into the CRPF bus triggered off an intensive blast. Following the blast the traffic has been suspended on the highway as forces cordon off the entire area and launched searches. Meanwhile Militant outfit, Jaish e Muhammad has claimed the responsibility of the attack, saying, "Adil Ahmed of Gandibagh, Pulwama carried out the deadly attack."

Pulwama Militant Adil Carried out Lethpora Attack

February 14 A Local Jaish e Muhammad Militant, Adil Ahmed Dar, as per a press release issued by the Militant outfit carried out the deadly attack in Lethpora area of Pampore in South Kashmir's Pulwama District, Adil Ahmed Dar, a resident of Gandibagh area in Kakpora area of Pulwama had joined the Militant outfit, last year, when the valley witnessed a massive surge in local recruitment. As per official stats, more than 190 local youth were recruited last year by various Militant outfits. The Jaish e Muhammad started gaining ground in Kashmir on New year's eve last year when they carried a deadly attack on District Police lines in Pulwama in which nine troopers were killed. 12 CRPF Men Killed in Pampore IED Blast

February 14 At least Twelve paramilitary troops were killed and at least thirteen others were injured, and a bus of CRPF they were traveling in was damaged in a car bomb attack along the Srinagar-Jammu highway in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday. A police official said that around 3:15 pm, militants rammed their car into the CRPF bus triggered off an intensive blast. The officer said that twelve CRPF men were killed in the blast and several others seriously wounded were shifted to the army’s 92 base hospital. Following the blast, the traffic has been suspended on the highway as forces cordon off the entire area and launched searches.

Civilian Fired at by Unknown Gunmen in Pulwama

February 13 A civilian was fired upon by unknown gunmen in Tral area of South Kashmir's Pulwama District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Wednesday evening unknown gunmen fired upon Lateef Ahmad Ganie near his residence in Nowpora Tral. Lateef was immediately rushed to the Sub District hospital in Awantipora in an injured condition for treatment. Police officials were unavailable for comments.

No Shutdown Tomorrow, Says Hurriyat

February 13 The hurriyat leadership has withdrawn the shutdown call for Thursday as the case is not listed for tomorrow. Hurriyat said, "the protest strike call against hearing of 35 A case in Supreme Court of India on 14th February, has been withdrawn after the lawyers conveyed to the leadership that in the cause list issued by the Supreme Court at 7 pm today, it is not listed for hearing tomorrow,” The Kashmir bar association led by senior lawyers Mian Qayoom, Zafar Shah, Zaffar Qureshi, Mohd Ashraf and others are in New Delhi defending the Article 35 A.

Two Snow Avalanches Hit Ramban

February 13 Two snow avalanches struck Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, leaving a man dead. Reports said Salam Din Gujjar died after a snow avalanche hit him near his house in Randgali, Halla Dhandrath panchayat of the district. Salam Din died on the spit, said SHO Ramban Vijay Kotwal. Another avalanche hit the house of Jamal Din Sheikh in Mangit village in Khari tehsil of the district. An official said the house was damaged in the avalanche but luckily there was no one inside the house when the avalanche struck  

Three Drug Peddlers Arrested in Budgam

February 13 Rayees Shah The Jammu Kashmir Police has claimed to have arrested three drug peddlers during a 'surprise' naka in the jurisdiction of Police Post Humhama in Central Kashmir's Budgam district. Detailing about the arrests, Jammu Kashmir Police in a press release said, "During surprise naka  Police Party of Police Post Humhama led by DO Shri  Mudasir Zaroo apprehended two people". The arrested have been identified as Shahnawaz Ahmad Ganie from Hyderpora and Farooq Ahmad Bhat of Burran Pattan. They were moving suspiciously after which they were detained by the police party. February 10 A cordon and search operation (CASO) has been launched by Government Forces in Sopore area of North Kashmir's Baramulla District Sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Wednesday afternoon morning, 22 RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police jointly launched a search operation in Thakkgund Area of Sopore in North Kashmir's Baramulla District. ALSO READ: Two Militants Killed in Early Morning Encounter at Budgam Following inputs about Militant movement in the area, the forces blocked all the entry and exit points of the area.   A door to door search operation had been launched when this report was filed.

Clashes Erupt in Pulwama After Students Injured in an Explosion

February 13 Clashes have erupted in Kakapora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday after 19 students were injured following a mysterious blast inside a school. As per reports policemen arrived in Narbal village soon after the blast inside a school left 17 students injured. However, youth threw  stones on police as they were heading towards the school. The policemen in return resorted to tear gas shelling to disperse the protesters, triggering further clashes. The injured students were shifted to PHC Kakapora and district hospital Pulwama for treatment. Some injured were shifted to Srinagar for specialised treatment.
