December 17 The Killing of seven civilians in the Pulwama region has evoked sharp criticism from many eminent citizens of India, the latest one to join the chorus is the former chairman of Press Council of India, Justice Markandey Katju. The Former Supreme Court Justice, Markandey Katju, who also was the chairman of the Press Council of India, has criticised the Indian Army Chief, for the massacre of civilians in the Pulwama region of Kashmir. December 17 In a continuation of crackdown against indigenous voices, Facebook and Twitter have taken down prominent pages from the Kashmir valley and the voice supporting dissent in Kashmir. The Facebook page of Weekly news Magazine, Free Press Kashmir (FPK), was barred by Facebook from its platform for a period of more than 48 hours, the page was back automatically. Qazi Zaid, one of the founders of FPK said that, "The ban is plainly choking the freedom of press, Facebook and other social media platforms need to give more space to reportage and freedom of expression and speech." December 16 Intense clashes have erupted in Prichoo and Chatapora areas of South Kashmir's Pulwama District on Sunday evening after a day long curfew was lifted from the Pulwama township. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that hundreds of youth hit the streets of Chatpora and Prichoo streets and hurled stones on Government Forces, who retaliated with immense tear smoke shelling to disperse the protesters.
