Pulwama Shuts down to Demand the Body of Slain Militant

October 19 A complete shutdown has been observed in Pulwama of the southern district demanding body of a militant killed last month in a gunfight in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district. Family of Abdul Rashid has been claiming that one among the killed militants was their son and has been demanding the body since September 21, when the encounter took place in Sumlar area of district Bandipora. All shops and business establishments were closed while public transport remained thin on roads. Auquaf committee Pulwama had called for shutdown in the down to press government to handover the militant’s body.

Army Assaults Civilians after IED Blast in Pulwama, 20 Injured

October 19 The residents of Trichal area in South Kashmir's Pulwama District have accused the Indian army of highhandedness after seven of their troops were injured in an IED blast triggered by militants on Thursday night. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that immediately after the blast, the soldiers went on rampage after barging into the houses of locals and thrashed inmates including women, old and children. The residents alleged that twelve people including a women were severely injured as Army soldiers thrashed everyone the found. 4 Militants Killed in North Kashmir

October 19 Four militants have been killed by Indian Army near the Line of Control (LoC) in North Kashmir's Baramulla district. The Police has not confirmed the incident unless the bodies of the slain militants were recovered, the Army sources confirmed it saying that the encounter took place in the Boniyar forests of Uri sector on Thursday evening. "Four unidentified militants have been killed in this operation. Searches are now going on in the area," the sources said.

Militants Attack Army Vehicle, 7 Troopers Injured

October 19 Militants late night on Thursday ambushed a Casspir vehicle of Indian Army on Pulwama- Lassipora area in South Kashmir's Pulwama district. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that that militants detonated an IED on the the Casspir vehicle of 55 RR of Indian Army as it passed on the Pulwama- Lassipora road through the Trichal Bridge, injuring seven soldiers of Indian Army. The injured Soldiers were rushed to the hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, the militant outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) has claimed responsibility for the attack.

17 Year Old Militant From Tral Arrested 2 Days After his Recruitment

October 17 The Jammu Kashmir Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested newly recruited young militant from Pattan area of North Kashmir's Baramulla District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Faizan Majeed resident of Tral was arrested after militants hurled a grenade at a police naka party in Pattan earlier on Wednesday. Militants Attack Army Camp in North Kashmir

October 17 Suspected militants on Wednesday evening hurled a grenade on a camp of 32 RR at Rafiabad in Northern Kashmir’s Baramulla district. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the suspected Militants hurled a grenade on the camp at Trakpora area of Rafiabad but it exploded outside the boundary of the camp. However nobody was injured in this incident as per initial inputs. A Police official said that a search operation has been launched to nab the attackers.

Seven Year old Girl Raped While Returning from School

October 17 A seven-year-old girl, who was returning home from her school, was allegedly raped by a man in Haryana’s Rewari district, police said Wednesday. The man grabbed the child and took her to the fields and raped her there on Tuesday, they said. The girl was profusely bleeding when she reached home, police said. She narrated the ordeal to her mother following which police were informed, they added. The child was admitted to a hospital in a serious condition, police said. A case has been registered and efforts are on to nab the accused, they said. The girl’s parents are said to be migrant labourers.

Woman Raped by Neighbour at Gun Point

October 17 A 24-year-old woman was allegedly raped by her neighbour when she was sleeping in her house at Kakroli village in the district, police said. According to a complaint lodged by the woman, she alleged that the accused entered her house and took her to a nearby jungle, where she was raped at gun point, they said. He also threatened her of dire consequences if she informed anyone about the incident, police said. The woman has been sent for medical examination, they said, adding that a case against has been registered against the accused, who is absconding. (PTI)
