Pahalgam attack: Authorities release sketches of suspected militants behind deadly assault

A day after the horrific  attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of at least 26 tourists, authorities have released sketches of three suspected terrorists believed to be responsible for the carnage.

The attackers, linked to the Lashkar-e-Taiba offshoot The Resistance Front (TRF), opened indiscriminate fire on a group of tourists in the popular Baisaran meadows area, turning a peaceful hill resort into a site of bloodshed and panic.

According to senior officials, the sketches were prepared based on eye witness accounts and preliminary investigations conducted by intelligence units.

“We urge the public to come forward with any information related to these individuals. Their identities remain unknown, but their movements in the area prior to the attack have been traced through surveillance footage and tip-offs,” officials said.

The attack unfolded just as tourists were enjoying pony rides and exploring the verdant landscape.

Among the victims were Indian nationals from across the country, as well as tourists from Nepal and the United Arab Emirates.

The gunfire left dozens injured, with several still in critical condition.

Manish Ranjan, an Intelligence Bureau officer from Bihar, was killed in front of his family during the attack. Sudeep Neupane, a tourist from Nepal, was also among the dead, underscoring the international nature of the loss.

Lieutenant Vinay Narwal, a young Indian Navy officer on his honeymoon, was another life cut tragically short.
