In Pahalgam, the all-time highest day temperature in January reached 14.1°C, surpassing the previous record, however, at night, the temperature dropped to minus 5.3°C.
Pahalgam, however, has surpassed all the previous records, Director Meteorological department (MeT), Dr Mukhtar Ahmad said, adding that the previous all-time highest maximum temperature in the month of January was recorded on 14 January, 2018 at 13.8 degree Celsius.
Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 13.2°C, while other stations across Kashmir reported above-normal temperatures.
Qazigund and Kupwara registered a low of -4.4°C, Kokernag at -2.3°C, Gulmarg at -3.1°C, and Sonamarg at -4.8°C.
Anantnag, Ganderbal, Pulwama, Bandipora, Baramulla, Budgam, and Shopian experienced varying nighttime temperatures, with Pulwama being the coldest at -6.6°C.
The Meteorological department forecasts dry weather until January 24, with the possibility of light rain and snow in scattered places from January 25 to 27.
Dense fog with cold day conditions is expected over the plains of Jammu division until January 16.
