Palpora residents suffer due to water scarcity

The residents of Palpora, Dailgam area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district alleged that the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department had failed to provide adequate water supply to them.

The residents of Herpora Mohalla- A of Palpora said that the authorities in the PHE department had pushed them into hardships from the past two months.

Accusing the PHE officials for ignoring their plights, the residents here have demanded immediate redressal of their grievances.

Inhabitants told that they are facing immense hardships due to the acute shortage of water supply from the last month, which is making their life difficult.

Residents said that the womenfolk fetch water from tubewells. “The authorities are ignoring us at all fronts. Despite repeated assurances and promises by PHE officials, the department has failed to provide adequate drinking water to the residents here,” he said.

Locals further said that the officials had, time and again, assured them that the matter would be resolved within a short period of time, but all the assurances turned hoax on the ground.

Meanwhile, the residents appealed to the Deputy Commisioner, Anantnag and other concerned authorities for immediate intervention in redressing their demand before Ramadhan.
