People Killed in 2016 are Martyrs, Mehbooba Mufti

The Chairperson of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the former chief minister of Jammu Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti on Monday referred to as the civilians killed in 2016 as ‘Martyrs.’

Addressing a gathering of workers here on the anniversary of her father, Mufti Mohammed Sayeed, she said that she did not go to the militant family on her own, rather she was invited.

Mehbooba Mufti said that she was concerned like a mother about the young people who were getting killed and injured.

Interestingly, During the peak of 2016 summer uprising after, the former chief Minister while while addressing a press conference alongside the Indian Home Minister, Rajnath Singh had justified the killings by saying, “the boys killed were not going to camps and police station to buy toffees and milk”.

Mehbooba Mufti recently visited the house of a Hizb ul Mujahideen affiliate, Idrees Ahmed Mir of Safangari area in South Kashmir’s Shopian District who was killed in an encounter on November 07 in 2018.
