People need to overcome ideological barriers till restoration of special status: Farooq Abdullah

Former Chief Minister of Jammu Kashmir, Farooq Abdullah Thursday said that people need to overcome their ideological barriers and gather under a single platform till the restoration of the special status of Jammu Kashmir.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of an event, Dr. Farooq said, “Parties of the Kashmir region are together. Now is the time for the brothers and sisters of Kashmir valley to come together to fight for the rights that were snatched away from us. Since August 05, the militancy scenario has not changed. Killings have not stopped post the abrogation. Only our rights have been snatched.”

Reiterating that innocents were being killed irrespective of their religion, he said, “Yes, minorities are being killed, But the majority has been targetted more than anyone. Innocent killings should be stopped.”

Farooq Abdullah also demanded the immediate rehabilitation and repairing work to be undertaken in the aftermath of incessant rains in the Kashmir valley.

Responding to a question on his nomination for the post of president of India, Dr. Farooq Abdullah said that he will stay in Kashmir and Kashmiris out of the crisis unfolded in the aftermath of the abrogation of Article 370.
