Locals in large numbers hit the streets in Jammu’s Malik Market and started protesting against a demolition drive in the area.
Residents of the Jammu area have been holding constant peaceful demonstrations asking the administration to roll back the orders calling the DCs to remove “encroachers” from state land in Jammu Kashmir.
On Saturday, eyewitnesses told The Kashmiriyat, as soon as several bulldozers reached the Malik Market area, locals in large numbers hit the streets and blocked the road in Malik Market, however, the bulldozers went ahead to carry the proposed drive.
Following this, people started hurling stones on the bulldozers, however, police personnel deployed near the area chased away the protesters who later regrouped in large numbers.
The clashes were going on when this report was filed.
