Scores of Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference members took out protest march against three civilian killings that took place on Monday evening at Hyderpora, Srinagar.
Carrying placards which read “Return the bodies ” “Deliver justice,” the protest march was led by Senior Peoples Conference leader – Khursheed Alam.
While speaking to the media Alam said, “Not allowing peaceful protests means the murder of democracy.”
“Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, is the representative of a democratic country. Why are civilians targeted? He has to answer,” Alam said.
Shouting pro-justice slogans, the members attempted to take out march on road. However, the police deployed there foiled it.
They added that they will continue to hit the streets till the judicial probe is not initiated.
Earlier, the police had foiled Peoples democratic Party’s scheduled protest against civilian killings on Tuesday morning. Mehbooba Mufti, too, was placed under house arrest.
On Thursday Morning, the L.G. Manoj Sinha ordered probe into the matter. “A magisterial inquiry by officer of ADM rank has been ordered in Hyderpora encounter. Government will take suitable action as soon as report is submitted in a time-bound manner. JK admin reiterates commitment of protecting lives of innocent civilians & it will ensure there is no injustice,” he tweeted.
