Persistent heatwave with isolated thundershowers forecasted for Kashmir

The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecasted a mix of dry and cloudy weather with isolated thundershowers and light rain for the region over the next ten days, alongside a heat advisory warning of persistent heatwave conditions, particularly in the Jammu Division.

The Meteorological Centre in Srinagar, in a press statement, has issued a detailed weather forecast and advisory for the upcoming days, highlighting various weather patterns and a heat advisory for the region.

From May 28th to 29th, generally dry weather is expected, although isolated thundershowers cannot be ruled out. On May 30th and 31st, the weather will be partly to typically cloudy, with light rain or thunder likely at isolated places. This pattern will continue from June 1st to 2nd, with partly to generally cloudy skies and light rain or thunder at isolated locations.

Generally dry weather is forecasted from June 3rd to 5th, followed by generally cloudy conditions with light rain or thunder at isolated places on June 6th and 7th.

The advisory also notes that there will be no respite from the heatwave and hot, dry weather conditions over the plains of the Jammu Division for the next seven days. Slight relief is expected from May 30th to 31st and June 1st to 2nd in most parts of the Kashmir Division and a few hilly areas of the Jammu Division. Another spell of the heatwave is anticipated from June 3rd to 5th.

“Residents are advised to avoid heat exposure between 12 noon and 3 PM and to drink plenty of fluids, especially vulnerable individuals such as the elderly, infants, and children,” the advisory read.
