Scores of casual and daily wagers of PHE department held a peaceful protest against government for failing to regularize them.
Mohammad Riyaz, a casual labor in PHE department committed suicide, after the government failed to release their pending dues on time.
Holding placards which read “Sacrifice of Mohammad Riyaz will not waste” – they alleged that government must be held accountable for this case.
“Everyday government is making tall claims about the regularization policy of casuals and daily wagers, but till now nothing happened on ground,” they said.
Sajad Ahmad Parray, President of PHE casual and daily wager forum told The Kashmiriyat that government is not releasing their salary from months, and due to which our family suffers.
“Riyaz Ahmad from Poonch district ended his life because he was indebt from months and government was not releasing our pending dues, ” Sajad said.
The protesting casual laborers of PHE demanded time bound inquiry and compensated in favor Riyaz’s family.
“And we demand the implementation of Minimum wages. Our wages should be released on time. How long we have to suffer now?” President questioned.
