Tamanna Hashmi, a local social activist, filed the petition before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Muzaffarpur. Tamanna is a social activist. She alleges that Yogi’s remarks have insulted the Muslim community.

On Sunday, in an event at Uttar Pradesh’s Khushinagar, while addressing a crowd, Yogi Adityanath targeted the Muslim community by saying that those who used to say “Abba Jaan” were digesting the ration before 2017.

“Under PM Modi’s leadership, there is no place for appeasement politics… Before 2017 was everyone able to get ration? Only those who used to say ‘Abba Jaan’ were digesting the ration,” Adityanath had said.

Tamanna is a litigant who has, in the past as well, filed petitions against many politicians. She has sought for Yogi Adityanath’s trial under IPC sections relating to hurt caused to religious sentiments.

The petition is expected to be taken up for hearing in due course.
