The vice president of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Dr. Navjot Dahiya, held PM Modi responsible for the spread of the Coronavirus and called him a ‘super spreader’.
“While the medical fraternity is trying hard to make people understand mandatory Covid norms, PM Modi did not hesitate to address the big political rallies tossing all Covid norms in the air,” he told, The Tribune, while blaming him for organizing huge election rallies and allowing the Kumbh Mela during the deadly pandemic.
Dr. Dahiya accused the PM of passing the buck of his failure to the state governments and the private medical sector and raised questions over Modi led Union government’s seriousness to deal with the deadly virus.
“The scarcity of medical oxygen has become the reason for the death of many patients in every part of the country against the fact that several projects for installing the oxygen are still pending with the Union Government for clearance, but no heed was given to such an important need by the Modi government,” Dr. Dahiya added.
He talked about the devastation that the pandemic has caused all around the country and said that the impact is visible all over, the crematoriums are full and piled up with dead bodies and that there are long queues of ambulances outside the hospitals.
“Even on the issue of farmers’ agitation against farm laws, Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not act in a responsible manner and let the presence of a huge gathering of farmers allowed without solving their issues, causing a serious threat of Covid spread,” Dr Dahiya said.
It is to be noted that in the past twenty-four hours, India has reported 3.6 lakh new Covid positive cases and 3,293 deaths, making it the highest one-day rise so far.
And amidst all the devastation, came in the reports of 25,000 devotees attending the last Shahi Snan of the Maha Kumbh, on Tuesday. Although, the officials claim that the Covid protocol was followed.
