
Jammu and Kashmir police on Friday announced a cash reward of Rs 5 Lakh for any information in connection with the killing of a retired SSP in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Mohammad Shafi Mir (70), a reiterd police officer and a local ‘muezzin’, was shot dead by militants on Sunday morning while he was giving a call for “azaan” from a mosque.
In a banner, the police promised to pay Rs 5 Lakh in cash to anyone who could provide any information regarding Mir’s murder.
The police informed that the name of the information provider would be kept a secret. Police directed them to get in touch with the Sheeri SHO or the DSP (Headquarters) in Baramulla.
