Police arrest eight for illegally producing desi liquor at Anantnag brick kiln

The Jammu Kashmir Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested eight persons for illegally producing country-made liquor at a brick kiln in Anantnag district.

A police spokesperson said that Police seized a substantial quantity of country-made liquor, along with the equipment used for its production, during a routine inspection at Brick Kiln Jan Thajiwara Achabal.

The kiln was owned by one Tanveer Ahmad and those producing alcohol at the brick kiln have been arrested from the spot.

“Eight individuals were arrested at the scene, and ₹13,600 in cash, believed to be the proceeds from liquor sales, was also confiscated,” Police said.

Following the arrest, Police lodged a case under the relevant legal sections, and an investigation has been started.
