
Police in Kulgam have arrested two bootleggers and recovered 32 bottles of illicit liquor from their possession, The police said.
As per an official communique issued to The Kashmiriyat Officers at a checkpoint established at town Kulgam intercepted one vehicle Santro Car bearing registration number CH03Q-4570 with two persons on board.
They have been identified as Rameez Afzal Ganie resident of Kulgam and Javaid Ahmad Lone resident of Pahloo. During the search, officers were able to recover 32 bottles of illicit liquor from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Kulgam where they remain in custody.
The vehicle used in the commission of the crime has also been seized.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 202/2020 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Kulgam and further investigation is in process.
Locals have lauded the efforts of Police and appealed to continue such drives in future as well. Police has resolved to act tough against inimical elements.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding anti-social elements in their neighborhoods. Persons found indulging in anti-social activities will be dealt with as per law.
