Police bars Punjab MP from entering Jammu Kashmir

The Jammu Kashmir police barred the Member of Parliament from Sangrur, Punjab Simranjit Singh Mann from entering Jammu Kashmir.

Sangrur MP and President of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) Simranjit Singh Mann and his colleagues were entering Jammu Kashmir via the Lakhanpur border, where he and his colleagues were denied entry, following a notice issued by Kathua DM citing ‘disturbance in public tranquillity’.

Meanwhile, the Simranjit Singh Mann took to his Twitter to hit at the BJP led Government asking why was he being disallowed from entering Jammu Kashmir, if everything was peaceful.

“Party Members & I have entered Jammu Kashmir Police with orders from GoI have stopped my entry into Kashmir without assigning any reason. I have a Constitutional right to be represented by a lawyer, which isn’t allowed. Union Home Minister Mr. Shah says there is complete peace in Jammu Kashmir,” he wrote on his Twitter.

“Thus I see no reason to prevent the entry of a peaceful delegation, visiting and enquiring upon the people of J&K. Our Party is against such tyranny and special powers given to the army to kill, molest, kidnap, murder and detain any Kashmiri with impunity,” he further wrote.
