Intense clashes erupted in Ashmuji area of Quimoh in South Kashmir’s Kulgam District on Friday evening as the Polling officials reached the area to set up a polling booth in the area.
Locals told The Kashmiriyat that hundreds of youth shouting pro independence and Anti India Slogans attacked the polling party which included CRPF and Army men as well with stones asking them to go back from the area.
Earlier similar incidents were reported from Muran area of Pulwama and Gagren area of Shopian, where Army resorted to Aerial firing to disperse the protesters.
The police, however, denied any clashes having taken place in the area.
Polling will be held in Kulgam district on 29 April, Kulgam, Islamabad (anantnag), Shopian and Pulwama in South Kashmir are a part of singe Lok Sabha seat of Anantnag- Many politicians criticized the Election commission for conducting polls for this one Lok Sabha seat in three phases.
