Five army troopers were killed and two others injured in an ongoing encounter in Surankote Poonch, top officials said.
The officials informed news agency Kashmir Scroll that five troopers were killed while two more were undergoing treatment at a local hospital.
They said that the whole area is under cordon and search operation is going on.
Soldiers who lost their lives were identified as Birendra Singh, Karan Kumar, Chandan Kumar and Gautam Kumar while injured were identified as Sundeep Kumar, Shyam Sundar Das and Todmal Dnyaneshwar Bhaskarrav.
Earlier, an army official said that an army party can’t under an attack from militants in Surankote area at DKG (Dera Ki Gali) on Thursday.
“An encounter is underway at the site to neutralize the terrorists”, the officials added. (KS
