Tawseef Ahmad Wani, 27, a resident of Achagoza area of Pulwama area of South Kashmir alleged that he was beaten to the pulp and tortured in the 44 RR camp of the army in Shadimarg area of Pulwama.
Wani alleged that Major Shukla who is posted at the camp threatened him to pose with a gun or else he will kill the youth in an encounter.
“Following a phone call on 4 February from the camp, Wani went to the camp in a personal vehicle with a friend, After I went to the camp to meet Major Shukla, I was asked to show my identity. But, soon i was rushed inside and tortured by his men (Army), till I fell unconscious,” Wani told The Kashmiriyat.
“They stripped me naked and took off my clothes after which they all started thrashing me. One of them shot a video of the incident as two others hurled abuses and assaulted me physically,” Wani added.
He alleged that Major Shukla threatened and told him, “Pose with a gun and post the photograph by tomorrow, if not, I will kill you in an encounter in the coming days.”
Wani is a student pursuing a Master in Arts in IGNOU and has three siblings, including one sister and two brothers. “My younger brother is serving in the army,” Wani told The Kashmiriyat.
Sources told The Kashmiriyat that his brother who is working in the Army has been detained by the Army for his alleged connection with the killing of another army personnel, Aurangzeb who was posted in 44RR camp in Shadimarg, Pulwama.
An official of the Indian Army denied the allegations and said if anyone is making such serious allegations against the Army, he or she is free to lodge a complaint against the Army personnel.
