
Jammu Kashmir National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah has called for an independent probe into the alleged surge in militant related activities after the government formation in Jammu Kashmir.
Upon being questioned on alleged spike in encounters in Kashmir, by a news reporter of controversial ANI, Dr. Farooq Abdullah said, “I demand an independent probe into the spike in militancy related activities post government forming in Jammu Kashmir. This can also be a possible attempt to destabilize the elected government.”
Responding to another question, the National conference president said that militant trapped in Khanyar Srinagar must be arrested alive and not killed. “The militants in Khanyar shall be arrested and interrogated to find out who is behind the spike in the violence,” Farooq Abdullah told ANI.
He said that according to the central government tourism was thriving and people were doing their routing business, terrorism was at its lowest ebb and now that the government is formed in Jammu Kashmir, militancy has come back. “This is why I am demanding a probe,” Dr Abdullah said.
He said that Pakistan cannot be blamed everytime and there should be a through probe. “I suspect there are people who are behind this. These are the same people who are making attempts to destabilize the Omar Abdullah led government,” Farooq said, while adding, “Such violence has not impacted us in the past and nor will it affect our work in the future.”
