Principal suspended in Srinagar after complaints of sexual harassment

The Jammu Kashmir administration has suspended the Principal of BHSS Gund Hassi Bhat, Srinagar over the allegations of sexual harassment against the official.

In the copy of Government Order accessed by The Kashmiriyat, which was issued vide number 151 – 3K (Edu) of 2023, the admin has placed Shabir Ahmad Mir, Principal Government BHSS Gund Hassi Bhat, Srinagar under suspension with immediate effect in pursuance of Rule 31 of Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1956.

The officer is attached with Director School Education Kashmir and further Director School Education Kashmir shall conduct an enquiry into the matter and submit a detailed report along with his recommendations, read the official order.

Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the accused harassed young female students over phone calls during nighttime following which several complaints were filed against the principal who was previously posted at a girl’s school.

Meanwhile, Jammu Kashmir Police has said that the accused has been arrested and said that an FIR has been filed against him under the sections 354 D (stalking), 294 (obscenity) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

“Shabir Ahmad Mir, R/o Zadibal, Srinagar working as Principal of Govt HSS Gund Hassi Bhat arrested in molestation case. FIR no 31/2023 U/s 354D, 294 & 506 of IPC registered at Shalteng PS,” Police said in a tweet.
