
A video circulating on social media depicts traffic officers assaulting a civilian near Lal Chowk in Srinagar, prompting the Police to launch an investigation into the incident.
According to reports from The Kashmiriyat, the victim is identified as a professional advocate who previously worked with the Srinagar-based newspaper Haven Mail.
Following an altercation between the civilian and the police, the Traffic Police Department initiated a departmental inquiry.
The viral video shows both the civilian and a traffic officer engaged in physical altercation.
Traffic officials stated that the incident occurred after a driver was instructed to move their vehicle from the main road to alleviate congestion
The Traffic City Srinagar, through a post on micro-blogging site X, acknowledged the incident, stating that a departmental inquiry has been initiated to establish the facts, and appropriate legal action will be taken against the guilty party.
