Prominent Kashmiri Shia cleric placed under house arrest for second consecutive Friday

Prominent Shia cleric Aga Syed Mohammed Hadi Kashmiri has been placed under house arrest for the second consecutive Friday, Anjuman Sharie Shiayan said.

In a Facebook post, Anjuman Sharie Shiayan said, “President Anjuman e Sharie Shiayan Hujjat ul Islam Wal Muslimeen Aga Syed Mohammad Hadi al- Mosavi Al- Safvi has again been put under detention at his residence by the authorities in regard with Friday congregation today.”

They further claimed that it was done to prevent the voice of the people of Palestine resonating in the Kashmir valley.

Aga Hadi Mohammed Kashmiri who is renowned among both Sunni and Shia Muslims was placed under house arrest the last Friday too to prevent him from leading a protest in support of Palestinian people.

On Friday, sources close to Aga Hadi Mohammed Kashmiri confirmed to The Kashmiriyat that a police contingent from Budgam reached  the house of the prominent cleric informing him that he had been placed under house arrest.

“He has been barred from making any movements outside his home. This is happening for the second consecutive Friday and it the same time Police personnel were deployed outside the mosque where he leads Friday prayers in Bemina. This is highly Condemnable,” he said.
