Moulana Abbas Ansari, a prominent cleric and leader of Itehadul Musilmeen, alleged on Monday he was placed under house arrest.
The chairman of recently banned Itehadul Musilmeen said that he was prevented by authorities from attending a Hussaini Majlis in Hanjiwera, Baramulla, on the occasion of the martyrdom of Imam Jafar Sadiq (AS).
In a statement posted on social media, Ansari said a heavy security cordon was deployed outside his residence. “The authorities have placed me under house arrest by installing a large security cordon around my house to prevent me from attending the Hussaini Majlis in Hanjiwera,” he said.
He further stated that he was informed that his movement towards the Pattan area was subject to official approval. “I would like to ask why I am not being allowed to go to Pattan area? Is Pattan a restricted area for us or has it become someone’s personal estate?” he questioned.
There was no immediate response from the administration regarding the restrictions imposed on Moulana Abbas Ansari.
