
The Jammu Kashmir Police on Wednesday claimed to have busted a prostitution racket in Baramulla town in north Kashmir.
According to a press release issued to The Kashmiriyat, Police said that six persons including two females have been arrested and a case under sections of Illicit Trafficking Prevention Act registered and investigations taken up.
Baramulla Police received an information through reliable sources to the effect that some persons are involved in immoral Activities in one rented house near Bus Stand Baramulla, Police said.
Acting upon the information Police Party led by Inspr Vilayat Hussain, SHO PS Baramulla under the supervision of Altaf Ahmad busted the prostitution racket.
The racket was run by Lateef Ahmad R/O Malangam Bandipora (Tenant), Altaf Ahmad Dar, R/O Kralhar Baramulla, Khurshid Ahmad, R/O Malangam Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Khan, R/O Qazi Hamam Baramulla and two female sex workers (name withheld).
Police said that a case under the FIR No.136/2023 under sections 3,4,8 of Illicit Trafficking Prevention Act has been registered at Police Station Baramulla.
