Protest in Srinagar against EDs summon to Rahul Gandhi

Scores of Congress supporters on Thursday hit the streets in Srinagar to stage a protest against the summoning of Rahul Gandhi by the Enforcement Directorate.

Led by Tariq Hameed Karra, the protesters raised slogans against the Bhartiya Janta Party and accused the ruling party of playing divisive politics in India.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been summoned by the ED for the fourth continuous time on June 17, for questioning in the National Herald case.

The Congress leader on Monday was questioned for over 10 hours, On Tuesday, Rahul Gandhi was questioned for over 11 hours in the National Herald money-laundering probe. On Wednesday, the authorities have imposed Section 144 around the ED and Congress headquarters in New Delhi.

Hundreds of Congress leaders and supporters were detained outside the party headquarters at 24, Akbar Road and around central Delhi as they tried to hold a protest against the ED action. The Delhi Police said that it detained 217 Congress workers and leaders, including 15 MPs.

The Former chief Minister of Jammu Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti addressing a press conference in Srinagar said that the summon was aimed at silencing down all those who are critical of the policies of the BJP-led Government at the centre.
