As soon as the news of the encounter in Pulwama spread to the nearby areas, the shopkeepers in the Pulwama and the Kakpora township downed their shutters, and re observing a complete shutdown in the wake of the killing of three Militants in the Kakpora area of Pulwama on Friday morning.
Locals told The Kashmiriyat that intense clashes took place around the encounter site and several people were injured during clashes. The Kashmir Walla reported that eleven people including a retired teacher were injured during the clashes.
Three militants identified as locals as per initial inputs were killed when a Gunfight raged in the Ghat Mohalla of kakpora Pulwama between Militants and Government Forces including 50 RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF.
Two residential houses were damaged during the encounter. “Shops, other business establishments are shut in Pulwama to mourn the killing of three Militants,” a local said.
The Inspector General of Jammu Kashmir Police said that the Militants were involved in the attack on a BJP leader on Thursday in which a Policeman from Anantnag district was killed.
IGP congratulated Police and Security Forces for killing militants responsible for yesterday’s ‘cowardly attack in less than 24 hours.
He also said that a woman was injured during the clashes that erupted near the site of the encounter.
Mobile internet was suspended in the Pulwama district of South Kashmir on Friday as a precuationary measure by the security agencies.
