Pulwama Goes ‘Azadi Azadi’ as Thousands attend the Funerals of Ten Kashmiris

Tens and thousands of people gathered in Sirnoo area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama District on Saturday to offer funeral prayers of ten Kashmiris killed in the Sirnoo area of Pulwama in South Kashmir.

People in droves of hundreds and thousands are still marching towards Sirnoo area from various parts of South Kashmir as the area is reverberating with high pitch ‘Azadi’  (Pro independence) Slogans.

“At least four rounds of funeral prayers were held to the slain Militant Hizb Commander Zahoor Ahmed Mir, who had joined Militancy the last year.,” the participant said.

Meanwhile thousands of people reached the funerals of other two Militants, Adnan Hizbi at Karimabad and Bilal Ahmed at Rajpora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama District.

Women in large numbers have gathered at the funeral grounds, while many have prepared food and drinks for the people who are marching towards the funeral ground.

Funeral prayers were offered to Shahbaz Ali at Monghama, Suhail Ahmad at Bellow, Liyaqat Ahmad at Parigam, Amir Ahmad Palla at Ashminder and Abid Hussain Lone at Kareemabad and Tawseef Ahmad Mir at Urchersoo Pulwama district.

Emotional scenes were witnessed at the house of Abid Hussain Lone who has a three month old daughter, hundreds of people offered funeral to him.

The whole area is in a state of deep shock over the death of ten people, “There is hardly anyone home, people are either out for funeral or on streets providing food and water to others,” a resident told The Kashmiriyat.

On the way to the funeral ground, pro freedom Taranas are being played on the loudspeakers of the mosques as youth in large numbers from as far as Islamabad (Anantnag) are reaching the funeral grounds.

“The areas throughout the day remained flooded with Motorcycles and cars,” the eyewitness told The Kashmiriyat.

“People have taken out what they had cooked for themselves and are giving it to those who are visiting the area for the funerals, arrangements have also been made to quench the thirst of the funeral participants,” he told The Kashmiriyat.
