People on Saturday turned up in large numbers for the funeral prayers of Majid Manzoor Dar, militant who was killed by government forces in a gunfight along with three other associates at in khiram village of Anantnag on Friday.
Eyewitnesses told The Kashmiriyat that thousands of people participated in last rites at his native Talangam in South kaahmir’s Pulwama district.
They said that People including children and women thronged Talangam village on Friday evening and thousands spent night there to have again last glimpse of slain on Saturday.
There were about eleven rounds of funeral prayers before he was laid to rest in his native graveyard amid pro-freedom slogans.
The body was handed over to legal heirs on Friday afternoon and about seven rounds of funeral were offered on Friday and four rounds on Saturday.
Pertinently majid joined militant ranks on 29 June in 2017 after passing 12th class examinations and was initially associated with Hizb before joining ISJK
Majid is survived by four siblings, two brother and two sisters besides parents .
Dar was killed along with three associates, including the chief of Islamic State Jammu and Kashmir Dawood Salafi of HMT Srinagar, in a gunfight with government forces in Srigufwara area of Anantnag district on Friday.
A civilian, a police cop lost their lives while as dozens were injured during encounter.
Meanwhile to mourn civilian and militant killings, many parts of South kashmir remained shut.
Bijbehara, Dachnipora, Sangam, Awantipora, Litter, Lassipora, Tahab, Pulwama, kakapora and many other areas of South kashmir remained off to mourn the killings.
Sources said that all business establishments and shops remained closed while as public transport also remained off the roads
