Nine Kashmiri students studying at the Mewar University of Rajasthan were arrested after being assaulted and booked under an F.I.R.
As per news reports reaching The Kashmiriyat, the incident took place on Thursday evening when a clash erupted between Kashmiri students and others in the mess during the dinner time.
The Kashmiri students were outnumbered and assaulted by the students after which the university officials rushed to the spot and tried to pacify the situation.
Officials at the University said that despite efforts to counsel the students by the registrar, tensions escalated, leading to an irate group confronting and physically assaulting the registrar at the university’s administrative block.
A formal complaint has been lodged at the Gangrar police station on behalf of Vice Chancellor Dr. Aisar Ahmed against the students involved in the assault, they said.
As per the Police complaint, the registrar’s role is maintaining discipline and issuing instructions to the students, which led to counseling sessions due to a mutual dispute, however, the students assaulted the registrar.
Subsequently, the students allegedly attacked the registrar out of animosity.
Nine Kashmiri students accused in the case have been arrested, and the police are conducting further investigations.
