
A militant has been killed while two to three more likely trapped as forces thwarted repeated attempts of militants to escape.
Reliable sources told the news agency Kashmir Scroll that after initial contact, Indian Army troops moved to the area and pinned down militants assessed to be upto 2-3.
Additional troops of Rashtriya Rifles have been mobilised as terrain is undulating and forrested.
Special Forces were brought in by Indian Air Force helicopter they said .
“Repeated attempts by militants to break cordon thwarted by controlled fire throughout the night they added.
Night enabled Quadcopters, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and Sniffer Dogs also used, he said, adding that one militant confirmed killed while firefight still on.
Rashtriya Rifles troops of Indian Army and Special forces have closed on to other militants, official said .
