On Thursday morning a massive fire broke out in a house in the Keran Village of Kupwara District, reducing the establishment into complete ashes.
Sharafat Zooh, a resident of Bani village of Keran Tehsil under Kupwara Administration, suffered a hefty catastrophic damage when his wooden house got completely ablazed and nothing was left.
While talking to the media, a spokesperson, Zahoor Lone on Sharafat’s behalf said, “Apart from taking out themselves alive, they couldn’t take out a piece of article from the fire. Everything turned into ashes. The fire broke out suddenly and before they could realise it scattered all over as the houses in the border areas are built of wood.”
Lone also grieved about the financial constraints the people in the border area undergo. “These people over here are extremely poor and live upon their daily wages and cattle, even those got charred in the fire too. There is no proper internet network in this far across areas which is why news of their distress hardly comes to light,” he said.
Through the media, Zahoor appealed to the District Administration, Kupwara for immediate help and restoration for Sharafat and his family.
“Temperature over here is still under minus degree. Snowfall and rain happen all the time. I would like to request the administrative body to take adequate measure to restore back his house as early as possible because it is almost fatal to stay in open with small children in this weather. Since everything got damaged they even are not left with any source of income, so it would be of great help if administration looks into that matter as well,” requested Zahoor Lone.
